League of Legends Community Demand Riot Stop High Ping Players From Queuing

The League of Legends community has ignited a discussion on high ping players. They want Riot to do something about players who queue up with extremely high ping which will just end in disaster for the teams they end up with.

League of Legends players love to complain. There is no denying it, but recently a player let their frustration with the state of the game known, but this time around it wasn't a problem with matchmaking, nor was it with the balance of League of Legends. Instead, they revealed their current feelings about high ping and the effect on the game it has.

Multiple other players agree with the original poster that high ping is an issue and something Riot should look into.

What Is Ping In Gaming?

In gaming, "ping" refers to the latency between a player's computer or console and the game server, measured in milliseconds. A lower ping indicates a faster connection, leading to more responsive gameplay, while a higher ping can result in delays, lag, and a less enjoyable gaming experience.

League of Legends Players Frustrated With High Ping In Games

High ping in League of Legends is unavoidable at times. There are limits to how high ping can get and still be bearable. With League of Legends being a global game with millions of players, some are situated further away from the servers than others, meaning their ping will be much higher than others.

This can lead to many issues, since the game will not be able to react as quickly for those players, which will then lead to mistakes or even deaths in game. Some players also experience such high ping that the game is virtually unplayable which then leads to them having to log out of the game.

These issues have frustrated players and one user let his annoyance known. They explained that they want Riot to do something about players who have a ping of over 200, which is where it gets virtually impossible to actually play the game. One of the harsh suggestions was that players with such high latency shouldn't have the chance to even queue up.

Another, more lenient suggestion was to create targeted servers for specific areas where the latency difference is especially bad. That way, those with higher ping could play together, which would mean everyone is lagging.

Of course, this is just a Reddit thread, but high ping is an issue for some, especially in important ranked games. Will Riot be making any changes though? For now, we doubt it.
