Freaky Friday has become a cult classic. Releasing in 2003, the movie was one of the best of the early 2000s. The film featured household names like Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, Chad Michael Murray and Mark Harmon.

While it's been over 20-years since the film was first released, it's now been cemented and confirmed by none other than Lindsay Lohan herself, that a sequel is going to happen.

Lindsay Lohan Confirms Freaky Friday Sequel

In a recent radio appearance on Radio Andy, Lindsay Lohan was asked about a potential sequel to Freaky Friday alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Lohan, without even batting an eyelid, said that there would be a sequel, and they're currently working on it.

She also stated that Jamie Lee Curtis would come back as well for the next installment, bringing back the two main leading roles from the original. Freaky Friday had initially made over $160 million with a budget of $26 million, making it a huge success when it first released.

Unfortunately, Lohan did not give away more information on the sequel, just stating that both her and Curtis are excited to be working on the project together.

The rumors of a Freaky Friday sequel have been around for a while now, and Jamie Lee Curtis had even previously expressed her desire to "play a grandma".

So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma, who's still, you know, happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers – today. I wanna be a helicopter parent in today's world as an old lady.

So, while there is nothing official revealed yet about the story, fans can get ready for some more fun with the characters from an early 2000s iconic film. The fact that the original cast might also come back will only sweaten the deal.

For now, there is no information on release date or the story so we're going to have to be a bit more patient.
