Funcom has something exciting in store for Dune fans. With Dune 2 just releasing as one of the best movies of the year, reaching new heights for the series, it's time for the upcoming Dune: Awakening to also grab the hearts of fans. It seems like the first gameplay trailer has done just that.

Dune: Awakening is going to be a survival MMO in an open world sandbox. Players will have to collect materials and are going to be able to build forts alongside their friends in a co-op environment.

But it isn't all fun and games. Players will have to be strategic when they play, search for water and shade because the desert can be daunting. Sand storms and other instances can and will also shape the world, changing the terrain at times as well, meaning the gameplay won't be stale.

Funcom has even revealed some key facts about the endgame content of Dune: Awakening, writing that factions will have to fight for resources which could be pretty bloody and interesting, pitting players against one another.

Overall, it seems like Dune: Awakening has a little bit of everything. There is combat, survival and co-op all in one game, which is also set to be an entire MMO. Currently, the game is in a closed beta and more information will be revealed throughout 2024 according to Funcom.
