The LEC has kicked off their 2024 season with a banger. Karmine Corp, the newest team to come in to the league, has one of the most dedicated and insane fan bases of any esports team out there – French fans are just built different I guess.

So, leading up to the final day of the first weekend anticipation was growing as MAD Lions KOI was going to take on the newbies of the LEC. The viewership numbers also reached new heights.

There is a new superteam in the LEC and while they might have gone 0-3 in their first weekend, the viewership numbers were insane, reaching heights that only international events usually do, making the LEC one of the most popular pro-scenes once more.

Leading the charge is none other than Karmine Corp with their huge dedicated fan base. According to esportscharts, all three KCrop games have made it into the top 5 matches of the first week, with their loss against MAD Lions KOI taking the cake.

It's a well-known fact that Spanish and French esports fans don't really get along, and then to have the two biggest orgs from each region – KOI and KCrop – going head-to-head has been great for the LEC. Add-in the brand-new facilities for the LEC broadcast and you've got the perfect arena for a spectacular rivalry.

MAD vs. KCorp managed to peak at almost 690,000 viewers, which has already surpassed the LEC Winter finals of 2023. They only managed to reach 555,000 peak viewers.

So, to say that the LEC is back could be an understatement and these new rivalries between European teams is going to truly bring a breath of fresh air to the whole region.
