MW3's New War Map "Operation Tin Man" — Complete Overview

The second War map for MW3, Operation Tin Man, is very different from the first War map we got at launch. Here is how the new MW3 War map will work.

War might not be the most popular mode, but it has a certain cult following, especially among those who like to focus on the objective above all else. Thankfully, Activision have never removed the mode via an MW3 playlist update, but they haven't done much with it since launch either. Luckily, that's changing.

If you haven't played War yet, we highly recommend giving it a go. And it's the perfect time to start, as we're getting a new map for War called Operation Tin Man, which will launch with Season 2. You can find everything we know about Operation Tin Man below.

When does Season 2 launch?

Warzone & MWIII Season 2 will launch on Wednesday, February 7. The season should last for about two months, ending in mid-April. You can find the exact global start times for Warzone & MWIII Season 2 here.

Operation Tin Man: The New War Map In MW3

In Operation Tin Man, attackers will deploy via parachute onto the rooftop of a skyscraper (inspired by the original MW3 map Overwatch from 2011), and from there they have to escort an Armored Wheelson along a designated route to the bottom of the building.

As you successfully escort the Wheelson along this path, the playable area of the map will change. The defender's job is to try and prevent the attackers from progressing until the time runs out. The attackers need to escort the Wheelson all the way down to a "secure laboratory", where they will need to hack into some servers.

Operation Tin Man is set in part of downtown Urzikstan, so you can visit the location in Warzone and Zombies already:

After progressing through the building with the Wheelson and then hacking the servers, the attackers need to fight into the parking lot and call in a helicopter for extraction. Which certainly has potential to be cinematic.

Will KD Be Affected in Operation Tin Man?

No, your kills and deaths will not be recorded when playing Operation Tin Man. This is how the War mode works, and it's like this for every War Operation.

The devs do this in an effort to encourage players to play for the objective, rather than worrying about their K/D. And it does seem to work. At least, based on our experience, very few players camp in War.
