Weddings are always kind of stressful – regardless of if you're getting married yourself or are close to the one getting hitched. Ever been a bridesmaid, for example? Yeah, that can test a friendship if you're bad at handling stress or the occasional bride-zilla moments that are likely to come.

How stressful (and funny) it can get when your daughter not only drops the bomb that she's having a surprise wedding, but also that she's getting married to your ex's son, will soon be revealed in Netflix's Mother of the Bride.

Mother Of The Bride | Release On Netflix

Spring season – flowers, falling in love, you know the drill. Also, the perfect season for Netflix to drop a romantic comedy! Mother of the Bride will release on May 9, 2024, on Netflix, fittingly for spring season.

Production took nearly a year, at least according to Brooke Shields' Instagram post. You've read that right: Brooke Shields! The cast and crew of this movie is pretty promising, to say the least, so let's take a look!

First things first: Brooke Shields will play good old Lana. Poor woman gets surprised by her daughter's wedding a month later and to make matters worse, the marriage involves the last man she thought she would see again: her ex.

The culprit? Emma, played by Miranda Cosgrove (we kinda finally get a look at Carly's mother, right? Just pretend...) who just can't wait to get hitched. Joining the mother and daughter duo will be Benjamin Bratt, Rachel Harris, Sean Teale, Chad Michael Murray, Michael McDonald, Wilson Cruz, Tasneem Roc and Dalip Sondhi.

Mother of the Bride will be directed by none other than Mark Waters, the genius behind classics like Mean Girls and Freaky Friday. As a writer served Robin Bernheim. If you're a regular on Netflix, you might remember The Princess Switch – that was him, so he's got the light-hearted movies down.
