Fortnite has not been available on Apple's App Store or the Google Play Store for 17 months. And while the legal battle between Apple and Epic Games continues, the game isn't expected to return to iOS anytime soon. But still, we have some very good news for you: it looks like gamers will soon be able to take to the island again on their iPhones and iPads all thanks to Nvidia's GeForce NOW! Here come the details.

This article here would be far too long read if we recapped the bad blood between Epic and Apple, but you can check out the previous articles:

However, Fortnite was banned from iOS 17 months ago and could not be played on iOS phones and tablets since then. A big loss for Epic. But now they have found a way out by teaming up with Nvidia. GeForce NOW, Nvidia's streaming gaming service, will soon support Fortnite, allowing Fortnite to be played through a browser on iOS devices with touch controls. So it's a dream come true for Fortnite mobile gamers!

Nvidia introduced Safari integration in November 2020, allowing the GeForce NOW game library to be played on iOS devices. At the time, Nvidia said it was working with Epic Games on a Touch-friendly version of Fortnite that would run on the iPhone and iPad.

More than a year later, the time has finally come. Nvidia announced the upcoming release of a limited-time closed beta of Fortnite that users can sign up for.

How do you sign up for the closed beta of Fortnite on GeForce NOW?

There is currently a waiting list on the GeForce NOW website that players can register for free to play the new touch control version of Fortnite on mobile devices.

The game will be available on both Android and iOS devices via browser integration.

To sign up for the waiting list, here's what you need to do:

  • Create an Nvidia account or sign up
  • Get on the waiting list
  • Sign up for a GeForce NOW membership (A paid GeForce NOW membership is not required)
  • Nvidia notes that invitations to participate are limited and admission to the beta is not guaranteed

However, you should definitely try your luck if you want to finally play Fortnite on mobile again!

If you're one of the lucky chosen ones, you'll get access to the mobile version of Fortnite later in January. After the limited-time beta, we can then finally expect an official launch of Fortnite for GeForce NOW. However, it is currently not known when the exact date for this will be. As always, we will of course keep you up to date, so check back with us!
