Upon Activision's announcement of a new Crash Bandicoot game, most people speculated a new Crash Team Racing installment is coming our way. However, the unexpected unveiling of Crash Team Rumble left the majority shocked and disappointed.

Following its release on June 20, 2023, across console and PC platforms, Crash Team Rumble failed to attract a substantial player base. The game struggled to gain momentum, falling to the expectations of both developer and publisher alike.

In the wake of such disappointment, it's hardly surprising. Just a few months after its initial release, the developer is pulling the plug on support for the game.

The game developer has sent a message to their fans, announcing that the upcoming March 4 update will mark the final one for the game. This news comes just nine months after the game's initial release. This is the official statement:

March 4, 2024 will be the final content update for Crash Team Rumble!

The core game will still be live and players will have access to a free 500-tier battle pass that includes 104 new items. This will include all of the Battlepass content from Seasons 1 through 3, plus all the available event rewards. Additionally, Crash Coin purchases will be turned off, and players can use their existing Crash Coins to purchase tier skips for the Battlepass.

Fans Are Again Shocked And Disappointed

In the vibrant world of Twitch/X, once a bustling hub (though it's lost some of its former glory), the Crash Team Rumble community is buzzing with frustration and opinions following the latest news.

Most people are not even surprised by this announcement and left sarcastic comments about the situation like "Who could have seen this coming!?", "Microsoft actually CARES? No microtransactions!" or this statement:

This was a failed idea from the start. People wanted new Crash and Spyro games, not multiplayer games with those characters.

But there are also people who truly enjoyed their time with Crash Team Rumble like this user:

Never even had a chance. Should've jumped on Game Pass the moment they got acquired, I actually enjoyed playing this.

At the end, only time will tell in which direction the future of our most beloved bandicoot will point. I hope the focus remains on what made Crash Bandicoot a beloved icon, rather than chasing fleeting trends with wild experiments.
